We are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer to join a highly innovative team developing advanced control systems for the global maritime industry. Here you will work with cutting-edge technologies, integrate hardware and software into robust solutions, and tackle complex engineering challenges that have real-world impact.
This is a 6-month assignment starting immediately or by mid-August, with strong potential for extension.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced control system architectures and documentation
- Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC systems using CoDeSys
- Integrate hardware and software components into reliable automation solutions
- Perform thorough testing and verification to meet performance and safety standards
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams
- Lead and contribute to solving complex system-level challenges
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Software, or Automation Engineering
- Experience in designing electrical and automation systems
- Proficiency in CoDeSys and PLC programming
- Familiarity with variable speed drives and industrial communication protocols (CANopen, Profinet)
- Experience with ECAD tools such as EPLAN is a plus
- Previous maritime industry experience is advantageous
- Strong communication skills in English

Location & travel
Preferably Ulsteinvik or Ålesund, Norway (other Nordic locations may be considered). Availability for onsite work in Ulsteinvik during specific project phases and occasional travel to other sites is required.
